Vic: Licence fees at party hotspots set to double

Victorian pubs and clubs which fuel boozy street violence will have their licence fees
doubled .. under tough new measures to clean up night spots.

New draft fees are set to be released at the end of this month .. before a review of
the controversial two am lock-out trial in Melbourne's CBD.

Fees will rise according to the venue's level of risk and will help pay for extra police
on the streets.

Consumer Affairs Minister TONY ROBINSON says licensees should expect significant increases.

It comes as the Victorian government announces five new targets in the war against
alcohol fuelled violence.

Police will have powers to ban troublemakers for up to 24 hours in Fitzroy and St Kilda
.. and the regional centres of Ballarat .. Geelong and Warrnambool.
