France striker Bafetimbi Gomis earns shot at Euro 2008 after 2-goal debut for France

Defenders at the European Championship could be in trouble when they come up against France striker Bafetimbi Gomis.

Speed, power, and raw talent _ Gomis showed them all in a stunning debut for France on Tuesday. The 22-year-old Saint-Etienne player scored twice as a second-half substitute against Ecuador with clinical strikes.

That was enough to convince France coach Raymond Domenech to pick Gomis in his 23-man Euro 2008 squad on Wednesday.

"The coach knows my qualities," Gomis said. "If I'm here, it's because of the season I've had."
