Vic: Man admitted to killing cab driver, court told

A court's been told how a Melbourne man admitted to police that he shot dead a taxi
driver in his cab during a botched robbery attempt.

Melbourne Magistrates Court has heard the body of 33-year-old father-of-two CAMERON
RUDD was found shot in the head and lying in a Dandenong street in November last year.

In an interview with police, 34-year-old EDWARD SHANE NG, of suburban Templestowe,
admitted to the killing after his arrest in May this year.

It's alleged NG told police he'd demanded money from MR RUDD at gunpoint.

When the taxi driver refused and reached for the pistol, NG jumped back in the cab
and the weapon accidentally went off, killing the driver.

It's alleged NG then dragged Mr RUDD's body from the cab, took his wallet and cash
and then drove off in the cab before abandoning it in a carpark.

NG is facing four charges including murder -- plus 10 more weapons and driving charges
from a separate incident.

The committal hearing's been adjourned until next week.
