A phase separation method was used and described to make silk fibroin membranes suitable for tissue scaffolding applications. This involved degumming of the silk fibres and dissolving in a ternary solvent, followed by dilution of a salty fibroin solution in water with rapid agitation. Phase separation occurred in the foam developed by agitation.
